Opera Australia

Cath Dadd has had a very long and succesful association with Opera Australia, Australia's largest performing arts organisation. She is regarded by many singers and other performing artists as one of the best stage manager-directors in Australia.

She was Head of Programming from 2000-2003, responsible for planning and scheduling of operas, planning and organising rehearsal schedules; co-ordinating technical staffing for wardrobe and wig fittings; planning and organising auditions, organising orchestral schedules, organising venues and hire of external venues. She was Resident Director with OA from 2000-1012, and Stage Manager from 1987-1991. Other OA roles have included that of Rehearsal co-ordinator and Future Planning Co-ordinator, Company Manager for the Melbourne Spring Season.

 

Other professional experience includes:

From 1993-1997, Cath was Assistant Director and Stage Manager for the Victoria State Opera, and Assistant Director for the Lyric Opera of Queensland (now Opera Queensland).

In 1992, Cath joined the Bell Shakespeare Company as Company Stage Manager for their national tour of Hamlet, Merchant of Venice, and Richard III.

Cinema and film production have also been part of Cath's wide range of professional projects, including working as a Post Production Publicist for Hollywood Studios Paramount, United Artists, Universal and MGM from 1982-1987.

She also worked as an Agent, with Fanfare Artists' Management from 1997-1999, negotiating contracts for major singers, conductors, lighting designers and directors with the national company and all state companies.
